What a magical and unifying beginning of July 2024… UNITY BLOSSOMED through song,
dance, and the National Anthem sung worldwide.
Lithuanian Song Festival: This year, four Lithuanian collectives from Sweden participated
in the Lithuanian Song Festival “For the Forest to Flourish” („Kad giria žaliuotų“), which is
celebrating its centenary. “Baltija” and the children’s dance group “Vijurkas” delighted with
dances, while among the singers, the Ethnographic ensemble “Bitkrėslė” and the Stockholm
women’s choir “Upė” could be heard. Among the dancers and singers were several LPS club
members, as well as LPS board chairwoman Rūta Smertinienė.
State Day (July 6): it is a day to commemorate the coronation of Lithuanian King
Mindaugas. For the 15th time, the National Anthem was performed simultaneously around the
world. Without doubt, the center of this national anthem this year was Vingis Park in Vilnius,
where 12,000 choristers from around the world gathered on the evening of July 6. We at
Lithuanian Professionals in Stockholm also joined this unique event, along with Lithuanian
community in Stockholm, gathered to sing the National Anthem together in the heart of
Stockhol oldtown. Together, we are stronger!
